Supporting young adults to fulfill their potential

Cantraybridge College is a  specialist further education college for young adults with additional support needs. We offer both day student places as well as residential accommodation and provide a variety of courses and learning experiences across our rural campus.

Cantraybridge is a place of ambition.  We have a drive and energy to succeed in our belief that young people should be given the right to access continuing education beyond the school environment in an environment that is right for them.

We know that most young people with learning disabilities want three things in life:

  • A job
  • A home of their own
  • A significant other

We know this because this is what they tell us. Yet, it is not so simple when the everyday, expected actions of young people generally are inhibited because of our complex social systems.

We are trying to make this simple by offering young people with learning disabilities the chance to:

  • Keep learning
  • Meet peers, friends, people in the community
  • Dream beyond the day-to-day reality of low expectations

Students ready to move on are supported by our Transitions Worker to find work placements and employment or they can look at starting their own micro business with support and advice from our Enterprise Trainer.

We also offer regular opportunities for former students to meet through our Cantray Crew social group, enabling current and former students time to get together and maintain friendships long after leaving Cantraybridge.

Our café  is open to the public (M-F 10-3) provides a daily menu, whilst our state of the art lecture theatre provides a fantastic training space for hire.

The campus itself is situated in beautiful countryside and benefits form a number of environmentally friendly services. These range from a biomass heating and hot water system and dehumidifier drying room in the residential houses, to ground sourced and solar heating in our café and classroom centre, The Hub. We also have reed bed grey water treatment and energy efficient lighting systems across the campus. Our campus operates a no chemical fertiliser or pesticide policy ensuring the plants and foods we grow are as healthy and natural as possible.

Through our Brokerage Service we can support and manage your Individual Service Fund (ISF). Ensuring your invoices and payroll (if you employ staff) are paid promptly. Our fees are low and service quality high, we can support you whether you study at Cantraybridge or not.
