Maintenance Department

Here at Cantraybridge, sustainability is one of our core values. The role of our Maintenance Department is to measure our Carbon Footprint and, where possible, reduce it by teaching our students about energy consumption.

In the near future, we aim to bring more environmentally friendly equipment to our offices and student houses on campus.

The department delivers cost-effective maintenance cover and support throughout Cantraybridge, whilst teaching our students basic skills such as painting, decorating, plumbing, joinery and minor electrical work.

The Maintenance Department is focused on:

  • Enabling our students to learn important life skills for maintaining their own homes and those of others.
  • Providing peer-to-peer training in the form of seminars and training sessions, throughout the year.

Maintenance Department Enabler

Before working at Cantraybridge, Jon worked for Yorkshire Housing Association as Day Services Manager; running and being part of a large and varied service provision for adults with learning disabilities and head injuries. After moving to Scotland in 2008, he worked in care and support, as a self-employed home carer. He began working for Cantraybridge College in 2014 in our Independent Living Team, providing support to our residential students. In May 2017, he took on the new, exciting and challenging role of Maintenance Department Enabler.

Supporting young adults to reach their potential

About the College

Cantraybridge promotes the skills and talents of young people with disabilities. We champion the rights of young people by creating opportunities to learn and grow.

We support our students to develop skills equipping them for work. We empower our young people through a managed transition from college to enhance their employability.

Independent Living

We provide accommodation for 20 students attending College. Residents develop their independent living skills whilst they are here in preparation for living in a place of their own.

Social Enterprise

Our Social Enterprise includes Cantraybridge Cafe and Venue Hire, our Market Garden and the visitor facilities at our Aviary department. We are open from Monday to Friday 12pm - 2pm
