Celebrating success!

We recently held our first annual student and staff awards.  we invited nominations from our whole team for awards in a number of categories covering each of our student college teams, our social enterprise team, our volunteer team and our staff team.

With an eye on developing our whole team (as ever!) we asked for nominations in video format.  In return we had a fantastic range of passionate nominations from quiet scripted contributions to wholly organic "say what you feel" pieces.  We invited Maria Baxter, our Investors in People assessor and Charlie Wilson, from WeeTV, to be our judging panel.  In an afternoon of enviable viewing our two awesome judges viewed every video and picked the winners from each group, the overall student winner, the overall volunteer winner and the overall staff winner.

It was a packed house in the Cantraybridge's Lecture Theatre for the results ceremony and the whole team waited with baited breath to see who would emerge as Cantraybridge winners.  As with all award ceremonies, there was laughter, there were tears, there were acceptance speeches and there was world-class heckling!  Eventually though, we had seen each of our section winners come forward to receive their awards and it was time to reveal the overall winners, and they were:

  • Student of the Year - Darren Smith
  • Volunteer of the Year - Carol Gray
  • Staff Member of the Year - Norma Cameron

Well done to all our winners and congratulations to our three overall winners who have each spent the last year demonstrating the living embodiment of everything we do year.  Come back next year for the second annual awards to hear more stories of achievement, in the meantime don't forget that our entire team are champions for Cantraybridge, every day of every week of every month.  Go Team Cantraybridge!
