“Leading lives of hope and promise” is a summary of an article we read recently about young people with Down’s Syndrome. We believe that with the right understanding of an individual’s needs we can help them to achieve their learning and development potential and to lead lives of hope and promise. Since 2004, Cantraybridge College has been an Approved SQA Centre and this enables to work within a framework of recognised learning outcomes to help our young people to learn the skills they need to progress in life. For some, this means working towards a goal that perhaps no-one expected them to achieve, for others, this could be the chance to access vocational learning that one day, will enable them to gain paid work, volunteer in their community or lead them to further learning. Whatever the desired outcome, it’s likely that we have a programme of learning (within our subject specialisms) that could be tailored to suit your needs. Young people can work towards level one or two SVQ awards.
