Health and Safety

Learning about health and safety risks is not something we take for granted at Cantraybridge.  In a work or community environment, there are a number of risks that young people need to become aware of and that is one of the things we aim to increase awareness of.

The health and safety component of the SVQ programme can apply in many settings and is relevant for almost everyone.  As we operate in a working agricultural environment, it is essential for us to make our learning environment as close to a real life situation as possible so that young people are prepared for the health and safety risks they might come across in other areas of life after Cantraybridge.  Students and staff are involved in identifying risks through monthly health and safety walks and this is a great way for us all to learn about what we need to do to keep safe.

But it’s not just about these kinds of risks, on a daily basis staff are supporting and guiding young people to act safely and responsibly online, while out shopping or using public transport and we are very fortunate to have some strong local support from the local police, health and council services, who often provide additional support to our staff and students.
